I was one of those young "in love" girls that got married shortly after school. I married Terry in September of 1964. In 1965 we moved to his hometown in St. Paul Park, MN. In 1967 we became foster parents and loved having children around us. In 1972 we became the proud parents of a little girl from Korea (Erica/born 2-21-71). What a wonderful gift from God. Terry and I always said we wanted to have 8 children (2 natural, 2 adopted and 4 foster children). It seemed I wasn't going to be able to have children naturally; God had another plan for us. In 1977 we added another addition to our already increasing family; we adopted a little girl from Korea once again (Missy/born 9-15-76). Missy became part of our lives in Feb. of 1977. Precious gift. Still the family increasing with foster children also. When I was 27 I found out I was adopted, for some strange reason it did not shock me. Thanks to my best-friend Ronda (Sterrett) Ryan we found my birth family. To think I grew up as an only child and now have a family! WOW! In 1983 I found I have 2 brothers and a sister. My birth mother past away before I got to meet her. Thanks to Ronda, my family and I have met. I have an older brother, younger brother and younger sister (including; aunts...cousins and all). We are all close and try to keep in touch with each other. Time went on and at one point we were up to 9 children (7 foster children and Erica and Missy)! Mercy!! Have to admit, 9 was too many. But love having 7. In 1988 my marriage ended and I started a new career. I work in a medical clinic in Hastings in medical records department. Very challenging at times. The people are great to work with. In 1998 I became a grandmother for the first time... love it. Since then I now have 4 grandsons. |
