March 2, 2004

Hey!!!! Just went to my first reunion meeting. It was a blast.

Enjoyed everyone's company and learned the latest poop for the reunion. I hope everyone has their bags packed, their memories dusted off and I am ready to have a good time. I look forward to our next get together and our reunion. These guys have put in a lot of hard work and maybe some gossiping, and eating.

Thanks, Barb (Bootz) Witte

December 8

We are at the point where we need to focus on an agenda for our remaining meetings and event planning. We really do need everyone’s input. It is time to start making the tough choices, decisions, and the assigning of some specific tasks. Please share any comments, suggestions, and questions you may have about the reunion. I know it unlikely that we will make everyone happy but we will do the best we can. We all want this to be an enjoyable and memorable reunion. And, I sincerely hope we can all have some fun as we work on it. :-)

If any of you will be in Evansville on the day of one of our meetings, you are welcome to attend. You may join in the planning, socialize, or just watch. It is up to you.

We meet at Roca Bar & Pizza, 1618 S. Kentucky Ave., Evansville, IN at 6:30pm. If you let us know you are coming we will reserve a seat for you. Of course, last minute drop-ins are always welcome, as well. :-)

October 20, 2003

Well, it has been a week since our last meeting and I am still laughing over some of the antics and comments from some of the participants. I believe Michelene even invented a new word, which I will not share here. It is one of those things that should be experienced first hand to fully appreciate.

Our first mailing has gone out and already some cards are being returned with “addressee unknown”. Unfortunately, it looks like our list of missing classmates will be getting longer.

If you would like to join us in the fun and frolic, let one of us know you are coming and we will gladly save you a seat!

As always, we appreciate all comments, questions, suggestions, and help.

September 29, 2003

This is almost too much fun. Don't get us wrong. There is a good deal of work involved in planning a reunion and even more work as the reunion gets closer. But, we are having a good time.

So far everything is moving along as it should. Our first mailing goes out the week of October 6, 2003. This should give everyone a year’s notice of our 40-year reunion. Plenty of time to contact friends and make arrangements to attend. It will also give us a little extra time to find more of our “missing classmates”.

If you would like to join us in the fun and frolic, let one of us know you are coming and we will gladly save you a seat!

As always, we appreciate all comments, questions, suggestions, and help.

September 15, 2003

Another good meeting. We will be sending out our first mailing in early October to notify those without E-mail of the reunion dates. The "missing list" is getting smaller but it could increase again if some of our address information is out of date. Several people have shared pictures for the website and Paul Heller from the Class of '63 has passed on some helpful information from their reunion this past August. The Bosse64Forum on Yahoo is going well. Lots of good memories being shared.

If you would like to participate in the planning and preparations, please feel free to attend the next meeting. If you let one of us know you are coming, we will gladly save you a seat!

As always, we appreciate all comments, questions, suggestions, and help.

August 18, 2003

It just keeps getting better and better. Al Roettger was in town visiting his parents and took the time to join us at the Roca Bar. He had several good ideas and will be helping us from his home in Colorado. We also welcomed Sheila Corbett and Sue (Nelson) Klass as new members to the team. Sheila Corbett and Billie (Simmons) Hessler brought Washington grade school pictures for the website. We are starting to define exactly what we would like to do on the reunion weekend, estimate the costs involved, and determine how we can make it happen. We also discussed setting up a forum on Yahoo in hopes of getting more people interested in attending the reunion.

If you would like to participate in the planning and preparations, please feel free to attend the next meeting. If you let one of us know you are coming, we will gladly save you a seat!

As always, we appreciate all comments, questions, suggestions, and help.

July 24, 2003

The 40-year reunion of the Bosse High School Class of 1964 will be Saturday evening, October 16, 2004 at the Marriott Hotel in Evansville, Indiana. Put this date on your calendar and start making plans to be there. Contact classmates you would like to see at the reunion and encourage them to attend. Additional details about this event and other activities being considered for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are still in the planning stages. We still have a lot of work to do, so keep checking the website for updates. See you at the reunion!

July 21, 2003

The tentative date for the 40th reunion is Saturday, October 16, 2004. The Marriott hotel is offering the best package deal at the present time. We are trying to keep the cost down by locking in the current price but the price could change before we get them the deposit. So, the key word here is "tentative". If this does not work out, we will come up with something else.

We welcomed three new members to the team at this meeting, Mary Lou Titzer, Terry (Stambush) Steinmetz, and Brenda (Wells) Walker. The meetings are becoming mini-reunions and a lot of fun even with the work we have to do. If you would like to participate in the planning and preparations, please feel free to attend the next meeting. If you let one of us know you are coming, we will gladly save you a seat!

As always, we appreciate any comments, suggestions, and help.

July 7, 2003

We are still working on the address list and preparing for the first mailing. Possible dates for the reunion have been narrowed down to a Saturday sometime in September or October of 2004. The location will most likely be either the Executive Inn or the Marriott. Unfortunately, the selection of places to hold the reunion is limited and many of those are already booked or charge more then we would like to pay. We are trying to keep the cost down but prices keep going up. We are also considering a Friday evening event, a tour of the newly remolded Bosse High School on Saturday morning or afternoon, and maybe a Sunday morning gathering. We hope to make the 40th reunion a memorable event for everyone.

As always, we appreciate any comments, suggestions, and help. If you would like to participate in the planning and preparations, please feel free to attend the next meeting. If you let one of us know you are coming, we will gladly save you a seat!

June 16, 2003

We are finalizing the address list for the first mailing and looking for a site for the reunion. Tentative time frame for the reunion date is mid-September to mid-October 2004. Suggestions and comments are always welcome.

June 9, 2003

Well, it is about time for another reunion. Next year will be the 40th reunion of the Bosse High School Class of 1964. It is hard to believe that it has been nearly forty years since we walked those hallowed halls talking of our dreams and aspirations. Sometimes it seems like it was only yesterday and other times it seems like it was just a dream.

We are currently in the process of updating the class mailing list. It is slow tedious work but we are making progress. If you have not already done so, please, send us your mailing address, phone number, and if applicable your spouse's/significant other's name. We hope that this information will help us locate you in the future and allow you to stay informed of future class reunions.

Our immediate goal is to notify as many classmates as possible about the reunion. If you know how we can contact any of our classmates, their married names, spouse names, or E-mail addresses, we would certainly appreciate your help.

For most of us on the Committee, it is our first experience working on the class reunion. I cannot speak for everyone but for Carol and me it has been very rewarding and on occasion heartbreaking. The rewards come from being able to reestablish links with friends long lost and in helping others do the same. The heartbreak comes from not finding friends, learning that they have died, or are now in a nursing home.

Time and distance has separated most of us. The experience of living life in many respects has made us different people then we were forty years ago. Traveling different paths has stretched or severed our familiarity with each other. And yet, our roots remain the same. To find that people can still be friends after not talking to one another for forty years is a most comforting paradox.

We hope you will join us at the reunion.

Thanks.

Tim & Carol (Wood) Wirtz

Subject: 40 year reunion

Dear Class of '64,

We have a lot of enthusiasm already for our forty year reunion. As many of the Evansville people as possible are going to try to start meeting soon so we can make the planning for the forty as much fun as the having. We'll be having our first meeting soon so I want to send up a trial balloon here before we get too far down the road.

We've had 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, and 35 year reunions all basically the same--a cocktail hour followed by dinner and dancing. How about something different? Are we ready for a change?

Our youngest child just had a class retreat at the beginning of the year that I think could possibly translate into a fabulous 40 year reunion. And it is also reminiscent of our senior year at Bosse High school.

Remember the class picnic at Camp Carson? Well, I propose that we have a sleep over at Camp Carson for our forty year reunion. The camp has never looked better. The Y staff puts on a wonderful program of team building activities, including high ropes course if we want to do that, and the food is pretty good--not gourmet, mind you. The lake is there for fishing, canoeing and swimming if anyone would dare put on their suits (might not be warm enough, thank heaven!) , and a bonfire under the stars with all you musical ones bringing your guitars could really be fun. There is a nice dining hall and beautiful nature center building where we could have a dance and any other gathering we decide to do. How about a funny talent show?

I've already heard an idea from Mark Falkenstein of something he'd like to do. There's an outdoor amphitheatre that they call a chapel where we could gather for a serious moment on Sunday morning if anyone wanted. And then, of course, we can gather with groups of friends in the cabins of 12. Two of them have screened porches and their own private baths. I'm not telling which. :-) I can be bought!!

The camp could accommodate twice as many people as we had at our 35 year reunion. And they would handle a lot of the details as I know they do this kind of thing for organizations and businesses. At today's prices we would probably have to charge in the neighborhood of $50-$75 per person. We charged the Memorial seniors $25 and had lots of snacks and drinks donated and the parent group also had to underwrite it about $10 a head. Consider that if you're coming from out of town you wouldn't have to get a hotel room.

So, what do you think--thumbs up or thumbs down?
